Middlesex/Greater London Inquests
SEVEN INDIVIDUALS, UNNAMED (HOUNSLOW, 1850):
In March 1850, seven people were tragically killed as the result of an explosion which took place at a powder mill in Hounslow. Horrifically, only three could be identified (although none were named), "so entirely mutilated" were they.
No evidence as to how the explosion occurred could be found, so the jury returned an open verdict, citing that the causes of each death were as a direct result of the explosion, despite not knowing how or why.
The families of each individual were given a pension by 'Messrs Curtis and Harvey' - presumably, these were the mill owners.
