Hello, and welcome to Historic Inquests (UK)!

As a genealogist and historian, as well as a fan of true crime, I thoroughly enjoy combining all of my passions by researching inquests which took place prior to 1950.

Not only can inquests provide you with details regarding how and why your ancestors died (which is especially useful if they died before death certificates became mandatory), but they can also give you an insight into inquest practices during that period, as well as offering extra information regarding the deceased's lives, origins and family members, etc.

Most of the inquests featured on this website were sourced from articles in the newspaper archives, although I also occasionally use other sources, too.
